The City of Suwanee has released its 2011 calendar, which includes more than 40 events, sponsored by the City, often in partnership with other organizations, or organized by private groups. Most Suwanee events take place at the Town Center Park, but some events are scheduled at other parks and in historic Old Town Suwanee as well. All events on the 2011 calendar are open to the public and best of all, almost all are free!
Suwanee kicks off the Summer event season with the Toast @ Town Center on June 23rd at 6pm in which people will enjoy music provided by the merchants, shop, and stroll along Town Center Avenue all while enjoying a nice glass of wine or ice cold beer.
The entire family can enjoy a fun night of free entertainment with Suwanee’s Town Cinema Movie Night! On June 18th at 8pm, Despicable Me will be featured, and on July 16th at 8pm, Rio will be the movie shown. Both are favorites of my kids, and your family is sure to enjoy watching these great flicks on the big screen at Town Center Park.
Another much anticipated Suwanee event is the upcoming Suwanee Beerfest taking place July 23rd. The goals of this festival are simple: to celebrate the best American beers by the finest brewers from around the country and to have fun doing so. You will be able to sample over 120 beers, enjoy live music from local artists and try out some great food from all over. You must be age 21+ to drink, and tickets are just $35 if you advance purchase and $40 at the door. This event may sell out, so plan to buy your tickets early!
The most well known event, Suwanee Day, will take place on September 17th this year from 10am to 10pm. This awesome festival features music, food, vendors, and fun for the entire family. This years event will host more then 100 arts & crafts exhibitors, bouncey houses and rides for the kids, and a fireworks show at dark. Rock and roll band from the 60’s, The Lovin’ Spoonful will perform at 8pm, and the concert is free and open to the public. Make sure to mark this one on your calender!
